Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all! This tool is very easy to use and designed to take the frustration out of hardware installation for the homeowner and cabinet professional alike. It is used by many professionals due to the extreme time savings, unrivaled accuracy, and durable build quality.

12” CC (300mm). For cabinet handles larger than this 12″, purchase the Cabinet Hardware Jig + (Item TP-1935) to install hardware up to 38″ (960mm). If you already own the TP-1934, you can upgrade with the accessory kit TP-2312. For even longer pulls, multiple jigs can be conjoined via thumb screws to drill for any length of handle.

Yes! Every part of the tool is either covered under warranty or can be purchased separately. We have many commonly needed replacement parts available on our website. Please contact us here or call 760-279-3033 if you are having trouble finding the part you need.

Top (large) stop and T-square parts are only available as a set, as they need to be precision-mated in-house to a tolerance of .001” square for us to be able to guarantee their accuracy.

Yes! Just set up the tool for one door and you can flip and drill for the next. We recommend checking that your thumbscrews are still tight before drilling the next hole.

Yes, the bushings normally used on drawer fronts are 1/2” long which gives guidance for precise placement of the holes, just be sure to hold the jig so that it’s resting on the top stop against the top of the drawer.

If you have a lot of cabinets to drill in this style, it might make sense to tape a shim to the back of the jig to let you rest the bottom of the jig against the face of the drawer front.

Either way, go carefully and you’ll have no issues, the methods above are used by thousands of installers daily and work well. With that said, we will look to offer some adhesive shims in the future; it’s not necessary, just more convenient.

Always make sure to start with a sharp drill bit. Generally chipping is not an issue with the provided drill bit. Extra precautions include taping the work surface with blue painters tape. For melamines and veneers, consider using a brad point bit.

Always use a sharp drill bit and relieve chips as you drill by pulling the drill out of the work-piece as it’s running to spin off excess wood chips. Do not apply much pressure while drilling, especially at the end of the hole. Holding or clamping a sacrificial block of scrap wood against the back of the door while you drill is recommended for extra protection against blowout. In most cases the screw head covers any minimal blowout. In extreme cases, where a screw head would not cover minimal chipping from the exit of the drill, users will drill the hole halfway with a standard drill bit, then use a tapered drill bit to finish the hole. To prevent drilling injuries, always be aware of where your hands are positioned.

1/2″ The small and large end stops can also be reversed if extra clearance is needed.

16″. Be advised, its typically not preferred to place hardware on the center of a large drawer front as it can make it more difficult to open. In most cases, placing the hardware more towards the top of the drawer front is desired for operation and aesthetics.

Over the years, many! Changes to the jig include a larger top stop, more durable thumb screws, a redesigned end stop, and extending the bottom rail of the T-square by approx. 1”. We now also laser etch the numbers into the jig, where before we screen printed them over the aluminum T-square. Most recently, the tool has started shipping in a hard-plastic case instead of a cardboard box.

Absolutely. The cost for a Cabinet Hardware Jig without a case is $169.00 plus any applicable taxes and shipping fees. Please contact us at 760-279-3033 if you would like to take advantage of this offer and we will process the order by phone, as this item is not currently available through other sales channels.

Finally broke down and it was worth it - by ,
5/ 5stars
I had been looking at this for awhile, but continued to make my own jigs, and then tried a few simple, cheap ones. The meet jig was the first one I thought would work out okay but it only goes up to 6” handles. The versatility of this thing is amazing. The carrying case is definitely worth the extra few bucks, too. The more I looked into it, I realized with all the add-ons, I could replace my shelf pin jig as well as a few other ones I use often enough. It feels expensive for what it is, but if you do more than a few kitchens a year, this will pay for itself in no time. We installed hardware in half the time on first use. It’s durable too. One of our guys already dropped it on a tile floor while having the long handle extension on it and it kept its shape. No bent pieces. The tile was okay too. After figuring in how much I spent on cheap jigs and wasted time making one-time jigs per kitchen, I’ve spent far more than I would have if I started out with this. I got the option with the extension for longer handles, and I’ll be ordering the rest of the add-ons too. As we do more kitchens, I’ll probably get a whole second set to have one on each truck.

I have had multiple issues with different drill bit stop collars from other places, including some expensive ones. This set is clearly labeled, easy to adjust, and is rock solid in use. Highly recommended.

They stay in place - by ,

I'm an amateur homeowner. I purchased a lower priced doweling set that came with drill bit stops. They attach to the drill bit with a set screw that are difficult to set accurately and easy to dislodge. The collar type is easier to set up and stays where you place it. They arrived quickly and have a nice selection of sizes. I am happy with the purchase.

Hello Kris, replacement end stops are available here: https://truepositiontools.com/product/tp-ses-sliding-end-stop/
Works well. Once. - by ,

Once you tighten these onto a drill bit, good luck taking them off or adjusting them. When you tighten the set screw the ring clamps down on the drill bit. When you loosen the set screw, the ring stays tight right where it is. You nearly have to damage the ring to adjust it or to remove it.I personally would not recommend this item.
This is the quality product you want. - by ,

I'm an avid wood worker and have a somewhat healthy budget available for tooling and great products. I also have an amazing wife who supports my expensive hobby :) Why is this important in my review? Because this is the kind of item that seems out of price range for what it does.. until you accurately describe the problem.... How do I place these handles on the $4000 cabinets I just built on without messing this whole thing up. The permanence of drilling through the layers of spotless meticulous finish that took you hours upon hours to arrive at. The anticipation of placing that hardware on just right.. and what do you do? You break out that crummy plastic template you bought from Home Depot for 4.99 to accurately place your new gold hardware - are you kidding me!? You get it I think.. this is a WORTH WHILE product that (after a bit of fiddling with) is simple to use, accurate, made with pride, and provides repeatability. And that to me is worth twice the price.

5/ 5stars
This is a great investment after we spent $20,000 on paint and $3,000 on new hardware. Yes it is expensive however you are not getting a piece of plastic which will work. Easy to set up and very easy to use. It flips so your initial set will work on both doors.
It is great, but understand how to use it. - by ,
5/ 5stars
It is a great tool. Very easy to use.1) Use blue painters tape, so the jig will not scratch the surface.2) Clamp the jig before drilling.3) I was drilling holes in hard maple, so I backed the doors with a piece of plywood. If you don't, the lame drill bit that comes with the jig will rip pieces of wood from the back.I found it easy way, I always drill on a scrap wood first to make sure that everything is measured correctly.4) I also purchased TP-2312-NC separately for long handles. I had a 320mm handle that I needed to install on a wide drawer. The directions are stupid (just read them and see pictures). I did not follow them. Instead, take into consideration that holes on extended rulers are 32mm apart. Just use this info to center the jig on the drawer and that's it.5) I am OK with the price. It took me a year working a few hours per week to build my wife's dream kitchen. I did not want to ruin it by saving a few bucks.
It's a great tool, but there are some caveats - by ,
4/ 5stars
I would still strongly recommend hand measuring; for some reason when I tried using the 'center' according to the tool it was off a little. Otherwise, I think this jig is pretty good. Once you're done setting it for the first time, it saves you a ton of time by giving you consistent drill spacing from the edges of the cabinet doors. I drilled the handles for 23 different cabinet doors and installed handles in about an hour, and the results were great. However, there are a couple of big problems I have with this tool. The first is with installing anything on drawers. The instructions say to mark the center of the top of the drawer with a line and then just line up the notch on the 'Large Stop' with that line. Why didn't they just put a hole in the Large Stop so can you line up your drawn line with hash marks outside the hole? It matters because when you push the tool flush with the face of the cabinet, there's a chance for it to move. I would almost recommend buying the more expensive version that comes with the arm extensions to prevent this, but I'm not sure if that's worth the extra $110.The second problem I have is with shaker cabinet drawers. I would strongly recommend putting a shim or something behind the tool before drilling. If you don't, when you push the tool against the drawer, the bottom (where you drill) might swing in, and you could drill at an angle. The arm extensions would also prevent this from happening.Otherwise, though, it's a great tool.

This is an outstanding tool and worth every penny if you are a professional but especially if you are a novice. The easy set up and accurate repeatability make production fast and easy. It will save you time. I misordered and got a second one. My experienced professional trim carpenter used this tool for 5 minutes and took my extra one as payment. You can set up a drawer stack in a minute and drill all the holes and move on. If you are a DIYer with a bunch of these to do this investment will save you expensive refinishing/repair costs and you'll be happy with the results.I am an experienced DIYer. The first time I got it out it took a bit of time to set it up and trust it since mistakes are so expensive. After reading the instructions carefully checking and double checking, it was dead on accurate. I installed 31 knobs and 31 handles in a matter of an hour or 2 tops. The pulls ranged from 5' up to 22' wide. It is awesome. Money well spent.

High quality tool! - by ,
5/ 5stars
We are constantly refinishing existing cabinets, and some customers want new knobs and pulls with different spacing. Mostly we use a Kreg jig, but this customer wanted 2 different sizes and only one of them was within the capabilities of the Kreg jig. There were plenty of options for similar products at far lower prices. The reviews were mixed, but most said the tool quality was poor.I wanted something accurate and that would last a while. Yes, I paid more for this unit, but I know I will get many years of use out of it. Scales are easy to read and are accurate. Tool is made of aluminum and seems very well built. I was able to quickly setup the jig and drill 40 doors and drawers in about 2 hours. It would have gone much faster if there weren't 3 different sizes! Basically it paid for itself with the first project. Some of the cheaper kits came with a bag...this one comes with a plastic molded case to protect it.It does come with a drill bit, but plan on buying a new one if you're going to use this professionally. It just wasn't very sharp and took a little effort to go through 3/4' oak. Drill bits are cheap and can be replaced easily. Other than that, the tool will last for years if well cared for!

Get some upgrades for the jig to make it better for doors and drawers with applied moldings - by ,
4/ 5stars
I have two of these jigs and install hardware for a living. I am running in to problems with cabinet doors and drawers that have applied molding to the front of them. My problem is on drawers the big stop only hangs over 3/4 of a in.on both sides and with the routed detail on the drawer and the applied molding the stop falls off the drawer. If there was a way to make the big stop an 1- 1/8 to 1- 1/4 on one side only that would solve my problem of it falling off the top of the drawer. Then I have issues with the sliding drill guide because of the applied molding on the front of the drawer, as it puts my guide a 1/2 in. away from the drawer front. If we could make the sliding drill guide thicker in the back only by 3/8 of an in. and a 1/4 in. shorter than the original guides as it hits the molding on the door front and interferes with getting the holes center where they need to be. these can be sold as a accessory and I would be your 1st customer. please consider this as I am running into a lot of doors and drawers with applied moldings. thank you Glen. PLEASE HELP ME AS I DO THIS ON A DAILY BASES

Yesterday I installed variable sized hardware on 52 drawers & 20 Doors with this product in 4 hours and 20 minutes. That is 3 minutes 40 seconds per piece of hardware.I knocked it a bit on accuracy. Because the set screw can slip over the course many drawers. You have to check it every three or four drawers to make sure it stayed the same.

Great tool for doing your own kitchen cabinets. - by ,
5/ 5stars
I really love this tool. We're installing our own kitchen cabinets and needed to install handles. The first jig I purchased was from a home improvement store and was around $25. The problem I had with it was that the holes were not wide enough for my handles so I looked at online reviews and went ahead and purchased this one. Yes, it's a chunk of money but my handles look 100% spot on and so worth the money. This tool can also be used for other handyman type stuff since it's such high quality. As for the customer service from the manufacturer, I was not impressed. My first order was lost in shipment (it never left the delivery companies hub) and I received an email from Amazon letting me know the order was being cancelled. So, I placed a second order. Now I had to deal with the refund for the 1st order. Amazon told me as soon as the seller agreed to cancel the order the credit would be issued back to my gift card I used. The seller refused to cancel the order, I was literally begging them for 3 weeks and they kept saying that they had received no money so they didn't need to cancel. After calling Amazon 3 times (finding a phone number is not easy) I was finally able to get someone in customer service to understand the issue and issue the credit back to my gift card.

Needed a case for my pin nailer and this worked perfect. Pin nailer was fairly cheap but I did want to put it in a case and this case was the right price and a good quality. Was easy to lay pin nailer down on the foam and draw an outline on the pre-cut 'foam cubes' which I then removed so the nailer fit snugly into the case. Will be buying more cases for some of my other tools.

I'm a cabinet refacer. Most people aren't familiar with this kind of work, because it's somewhat new. I've been doing this job 3 years now. My company expects precision, and quality work with consistency. I've been using the true position for 3 months now, and let me tell you that it's the best product on the market. I was skeptical at first before I tried it. I just measured by hand the past couple of years, because I didn't trust anything on the market. The doors I work with is too expensive to make a mistake. I can admit it was a little confusing to me at first, but by the first job I used it on a job I had it down pat. I have made mistakes with it, but mainly by my fault. I work with a lot of drawer sizes, and handle sizes on just 1 job. You have to pay attention to that if you use this product and do cabinets for a living. The first time I used it I wanted to go to town on drilling, but make sure you know the size of everything. I believe it saves me a hour on every job on drilling, and measuring. Maybe more, but the consistency is what counts. Every handle lines up perfectly without any adjustments compared to my measurements when I did it by hand. I definitely recommend this product if you do cabinets for a living.

Does the job that cheaper ones do. - by ,
2/ 5stars
I install hundreds of handles each year. This does what it's intended for but there are cheaper units out there that do the same thing. I give it a one star for the case. I will take the blame and I should of contacted the seller first but I went off of other reviews and thought this to be a much better quality. Don't spend this amount.
Works as well as one would hope - by ,

Though priced a little higher that I would have liked, this jig is unquestionably easy to use and accurate every time. The time saved does help justify it's price. Ideally one would want to have it for more than a single kitchen's worth of cabinets but given the cost of cabinets and the results of misdrilling some holes I was happy to but it.

QUALITY AND ACCURATE! - by ,
5/ 5stars
Worked like a dream. This jig allowed me to slay a dragon that I was dreading to tackle... I added the extension and the results turned out like a pro’s work! The price is high and I know how tempting it is to buy the cheapest product with somewhat good reviews.... but, buy American and support a great company that produces a top quality tool! After drilling over 40 cabinet doors and drawers I seriously doubt that anything less than the quality jig that this is would have been able to hold up and remain unfazed. Seriously, I was getting a little cocky less than half way through my project because this jig was that good at getting the job done accurately! I cannot recommend this enough!

Adding this extension on to the the Original Cabinet Hardware Jig allowed me to drill the hardware mounts for over 40 cabinets in my home... all in less than an hour! I am a 100% first time DIY’er and this got me to complete my project with the results of a pro! Bought American made product and saved hundreds by doing it myself. Even considering doing this as a side job for hire... lol.
CAN’T ADD THE END STOP ON THE JIG FOR A 22” DRAWER FOR A 13” LONG PULL - by ,
3/ 5stars
Love the concept and for the long handled pulls on tall cabinet doors worked great. When trying to use on install of 13” pulls on a 22” X 5” drawer front there is no way to attach the end stop. So trying to hold flat and steady on the center line is very awkward ard difficult. It’s so difficult to hold completely flat on drawer front edge, it has a tendency to slant back while holding the jig on the top of the drawer edge. If the large stop were slightly bigger in order to go a little further back on drawer edge would most likely correct this problem. It would probably work better if the drawer didn’t have a raised panel drawer front. Should have better instructions. The price should be a little more reasonable.

The Great Pretenders. - by ,
5/ 5stars
The good folks at True Position pretend that there is no such thing as a shaker style drawer front. I don't argue with the fact that it's a tough problem. I suppose that humans aren't smart enough to solve a problem like that. If it was solvable I guess they would have solved it by now. But they can't so they just pretend. What if I promised that the depth of the panel below the rails and styles will be exactly 1/4' and never very even by a single angstrom?
Nice for larger drawers and cabinets. - by ,
5/ 5stars
I ordered the TP-1935 because I had larger/wide handles to install and none of the cheaper models would would do more than 6 inches that I could find. Easy set-up and accurate. (I just had a few handles to install so time will tell if it holds it accuracy.) it was a little expensive but if it holds its accuracy then it will be worth it.
The PERFECT case - by ,

The perfect case. The perfect fit. This is exactly what I needed. It fits everything so perfectly. I love that I can make it fit to suit my purposes by just adding or removing the inner padding. This is perfect for a dremal, or a staple gun or a hex die cut set. It’s so versatile and sturdy. I don’t know any other case that come close. I intend to buy at least one or 2 more. It is exactly what I needed as an artist and someone who frequently works with tools of all sorts. It’s excellent! Definitely recommend!

This is actually my second TP-1934 Cabinet Hardware Jig by True Position Tools. We used the first one so much the the ferrules actually wore out and the accuracy of the jig was compromised. For this second jig, we have decided to use the jig to only mark the holes with a drill bit by barely drilling into the wood and then removing the jig to finish the hole. It may slow us down a little bit, but it is definitely worth it to maintain the quality and precision of this tool! The jig comes in a plastic case which protects it whenever it is in transport between job sites. This is by far the BEST cabinet jig on the market in my opinion! I would highly recommend this to anyone in the market for such a tool!

I’m not a contractor, nor a finish carpenter, but have multiple rentals properties and have installed cabinets and pulls/handles a dozen times. Decided to buy this for my own new home to install 80 handles. Was very impressed with the reviews and initially when the TP135 arrived. However, things went downhill from there.I agree with others that the included drill bit is laughable, and they would be better off just not including it.Ultimately I ruined 2 drawer fronts and 1 cabinet door, which will cost me $300 to replace. On the first drawer, the horizontal slide loosened and got out of alignment. I cranked it down as much as possible (without using vise grips- which would have damaged the soft metal). After tightening the locking screws after each drawer (which shouldn’t be necessary), I wasn’t at all confident in this very expensive tool. It was certainly slowing the process down. Finally I ended up taping the horizontal slides so they wouldn’t move- again...this is a $300 tool.Door 1 was ruined as the vertical clamp loosened- guess I should have figured that so I ended up taping it as well.Drawer 2 was ruined as somehow the metal of tool was scored ( the metal is very soft) and scratched the front of the cabinet. The retaining screw(s) literally would fall out from the minimal vibration of my Ryobi cordless drill.I installed all handles in one day, but will not use this again and prefer to go a much cheaper option that will get better results.

My wife and I are pretty handy around the house but have never tried installing cabinet or drawer hardware. We just moved into our new home and elected to install our own hardware. The builder's contractor wanted $3 per hole plus the marked up hardware. I was able to buy the exact same stainless steel hardware at half the price. The job required 150 cabinet and drawer pulls to be installed. This jig made the job so easy. We had several different drawer types but the tool handled each one with ease with the added extension for the larger drawers. But overall the cabinets and drawers look professionally done. We completed the project in about 6 hours. Very pleased.
Precision Tool and easy to use - by ,
5/ 5stars
My wife and I just finished installing all of the cabinet and drawer hardware this weekend. About 150 handles and knobs. The extension made the job easy on the longer drawers. We did have to buy some longer screws than what was included with the cabinet hardware but that was a minor issue and no fault of the tool. Precision and accurate.
The bestest jig - by ,
5/ 5stars
I purchased this jig a few weeks ago and have been using it now regularly. It is awesome! Once you learn how to set it up for various applications (such as single hole knobs or handles with two holes or wide drawers) it becomes faster and faster to dial in. The results are fantastic! Perfect hardware drilling completely repeatable and reversible. Cuts hardware installation time dramatically. Sometimes you have to spend some money to make more money and this tool is the perfect illustration of that concept. I'm glad I'll never ruin another cabinet door or drawer and delighted with thew speed and accuracy this tool brings to a job that requires real precision. Much better than my previous shop/site built jigs and far superior to my old retired store bought jig. It's the bestest!
Great jig, But a bit pricey! - by ,

Minus one star due to hefty price tag. Far better than the cheap Chinese made knockoffs though! Really speeds up the job of installing hardware and in my line of work, speed and accuracy are number one!
Perfect match to those in the kit! - by ,
5/ 5stars
I'm happy to report that these are the exact ones in the handle installation kit. Work perfectly. Update: They came in a ZipLoc style bag and I added one to my kit, gave my buddy one for his kit, and then lost the other 8 while they were still in the bag. Be smarter than I am and put the bag right in your cabinet handle drilling kit!
Excellent quality and usability. - by ,
5/ 5stars
Very well made, simple setup, easy to use. My only caution is to make certain between each door/drawer that no screw on the jig has loosened and allowed any part of the jig to move or you will end up with holes improperly drilled. I used the jig to install hardware on 78 doors/drawers in very little time with zero problems.
High quality at a high cost. - by ,
5/ 5stars
This is expensive, but it will deliver a near guaranteed result which if you have many cabinets to do will help you do a high quality job reasonably fast. The ability to flip the device and do the opposite cabinet door is another time saver. I do believe you need to ensure the screws stay tight so the device doesn’t slip. I had read that in a review and this ensured the screws were tight. I have had the plastic versions from Home Depot and those are fine for a couple doors, but the pre-drilled holes don’t always line up how you need and you need to triple check to make sure you don’t make a mistake and it doesn’t slip. For a few cabinets that’s probably ok, but not for 10 or more.

Time saver for a pro - by ,
5/ 5stars
I install hundreds of sets of hardware over the course of the year. My previous method was to make a template for each job, but most jobs have varying drawer front heights and various handle widths so it wouldn't be unusual to make 3-4 different templates for each kitchen. I'd save them but it seems the exact same setup was seldom used again.PROS: Very well made - this is a precision tool made in the US. Quickly sets up for various knob heights, handle widths and different drawer heights. Comes with a blow molded case to keep everything together.CONS: (Not really cons, more like 'things to know') It's not inexpensive, but it's a quality tool. The enclosed bit is not the greatest. It's okay, but will smoke and burn its way through a maple drawer front. The 5mm hole is a little larger than I would normally use so there is a little play when using an 8-32 machine screw - not bad but you may have to fine tune the long parallel door handles. I haven't yet used it on a recessed panel Shaker style drawer front. There will be some distance between the bushing guide and the surface to be drilled on that drawer style, but I think the fit between guide and bit is precise enough that it will work ok,

Love this tool. Had 128 door and drawer pulls to install. Once set, process was quick and precise. That said, this is a quality built product especially suited for tradesmen.

Reliable drilling kit, but missing a clamp...in my opinion. - by ,
4/ 5stars
First of all I’m not a super handyman, just wanted to install cabinet door pulls in our kitchen and bathroom cabinets. I have a couple of wide cabinets and after a lot of research I opted to buy this jig since it was the only one long enough for the job. Even though I wasn’t thrilled about the price all the other buyers seemed pleased. When it was time to start to use the jig I went ahead and measured three times to make sure I got the correct measurement and that all cabinets were the same. I configured the jig and I started with a door pull on a wall cabinet (rookie mistake). After drilling the first hole, I noticed that the jig had slipped and it was no longer on the edge of the door panel :(. So I had to reconfigure the jig with the new distance using the first hole as the guide to position my second hole. After that it was very repeatable even though everything was seated a bit lower than desired. I’m summary, I’ve only done the cabinet doors (drawers are next) and I’m pleased with how easy it is. My only suggestion to the company is that for the price they should include a clamp or at least make note of it on the instructions. I’ll add more information when I do the drawers and use the extension.

Precise, well made jig - by ,
5/ 5stars
The best jig I had ever used for cabinet installation work. I try minimizing the fabrication on the job site but it does happen regardless and with this jig it's made tons quicker. If you decide to buy an expensive jig, make sure to buy the largest kit offered. You are spending the money as it is, a little bit more - and you got a very well crafted toolkit. Takes a little getting used to if you had never used a kit that you had to set up but honestly, it's not rocket science. Anything you use in the shop needs to be set up. Try working with a Leigh Jig to make dovetails - you know what I mean.Instructions were included with pictures for everything. Easy to follow. Common sense, really. The case is sturdy plastic with little wasted space. The jigs are aluminum with inserts for the drill bits that can be replaced if worn out it seems. A drill bit with a depth bushing is included so all you need is a drill/hammer drill and a tape measure with a pencil to install handles/shelves.Would buy again if ever needed. Good tools cost money and this is what made in USA means.

These are the best collars I have every bought. - by ,
5/ 5stars
These collars are great. I have several steel versions because I am ever hopeful they will not jam or break. These aluminum ones seem to have more give so they slide well on the drill bit but then tighten down very well and hold. I plan to buy another set because many times I need multiples of the same size.
Nice Jig - by ,
4/ 5stars
The jig itself gets 5 stars. For me, making a jig per job, isnt always the available option bc hardware is rarely on site during install which either leaves me to put out tools to make one or the old tape measure and pencil trick. That being said this is great for me. Worth the money IMO.Two things to note where there is room for improvement. Although I dont have an issue with maring cabinets during drilling I can see how it could happen. Small felt pads should be added to contact areas. Not to much to ask considering the price of this. Also the drill bit included is absolute trash. Again for the price of this unit they could have cut 4 more dollars from profit to add a better bit. All in all I'm happy with the purchase.

I'm very happy with this purchase and will buy another if the need arises. This $20 box provided a safe container for $250 worth of tube bending and flaring tools and their accessories. Now I have a 'grab it and go' kit for tubing jobs. Two levels of foam (one thin, one thick) are die cut in 3/4' squares so you can quickly pull out the ones where you want your tool(s) to sit. The foam can also be cut with a sharp knife. The kit came with the thin foam on top, but it should probably be swapped with the thicker layer. That way a thin layer exists on the bottom to lay your tools onto and the thicker layer can be cut to form around them. What ever works. Good quality, should last forever.

I am putting hardware on all the cabinets in our home and knew I certainly did not want to measure every piece, nor did I think I could easily create something on my own. I can’t speak for the cheaper versions that are out there, but this device is easy to use, very accurate and a huge time saver. I can bang out a normal master bathroom set of cabinets in 30-45 minutes easily. I can literally drill the holes faster than someone can install the hardware after drilling. Highly recommend! Also comes with its own heavy duty storage case, which also would hold any add-ons that are available for this device for really large hardware needs.

A hard storage case for the Arrow PT50 pneumatic stapler - by ,
4/ 5stars
The Arrow PT50 pneumatic stapler I bought did not come with a storage case, and I was looking for something affordable that I could customize to fit the tool. I researched camera cases, and pistol cases, but they were too bulky and too expensive. This case is a bit larger than the PT50, leaving me room to store a couple of boxes of staples along side the tool. The case came with 3 layers of foam: 1 layer of egg crate foam for the lid, and 2 layers of pre-scored pluck foam for the bottom. The pluck foam came in 2 different thicknesses which will allow you to make a deep or shallow cutout of whatever you are storing in the case.Tip: use a marker to outline the object on the foam, then cut out your shape. The lid is hinged with plastic rods, which seems more durable than cheaper boxes where the lid and base are a continuous piece of plastic. Also, the fasteners are metal, not plastic. They are not lockable, and there are no holes on the case to attach a lock. The case is suited for light use, but the padding and plastic are probably not durable enough to be throwing this thing around in the back of your work truck. Also, it is not waterproof. For $19, I got what I expected, and I would recommend this for light use, or basic storage.

I am not a professional cabinet installer, but just a female DIY enthusiast. I am updating my 12 year old kitchen and bathrooms and wanted to install new hardware. Before I just had knobs, but wanted to install more trendy handles. Once I read the directions and figured out how it worked, I was able to perfectly install my new hardware myself and everything was perfectly aligned. The instructions were very detailed and had picture,s which I found very helpful. This was definitely a bit of an investment, but know it will come in handy for years to come. Construction is very sturdy, and the hard plastic case will keep it perfectly protected. Glad I purchased, as it probably saved me frustration and time in the long run.

Too small - by ,
1/ 5stars
The 3/8-inch collar was 1/64 inch too small. Didn't fit on my 3/8-inch drill bit. I need a full 3/8-inch hole to fit a dowel properly, going to a smaller bit to fit the collar is a non-starter. I checked a couple of other sized collars and they were also under sized, but not by quite as much. I'm returning.

It's a great jig. Pricy, but worth the cost if you use it for a living. Replacement cabinet doors can be $100+/- if you mess up and poke a hole in the wrong spot. Saves time in labor and wood jigs wear out quick. I'm glad there is finally a case.

So much better than the plastic templates! - by ,
5/ 5stars
I struggled over whether or not to spend this much money on a template to only use on the cabinets I just purchased through RTACabinets.com however, after spending $12,000 on those cabinets, I did not want to trust a cheap plastic template on the job.So happy I made the decision to get this jig. I decided where I wanted the handles, marked the center of the area I wanted it in, put the jig on the door, lining up the center mark with the center mark on the jig both horizontally and vertically. I tightened down the plates so it would be set in that position. I then covered the center hole so I wouldn't accidentally drill that hole out. I placed the jig on the door and drilled. The handles fit perfect. I was surprised that the drill bit that came with the jig did not severely blow out the back side of the hole. The screw head covered any minor blow out.I went along and drilled the holes and the hubby followed up with the handles, sort of a short assembly line. By the way, I am a 68 year old woman and the hubby is 73. If we can use this with success, anyone can. If it doesn't work for you, you must be doing it wrong. Some said it only came in a cardboard case, but I received a hard plastic case with a future spot for an attachment that allows you to place adjustable holes for shelves. Something I might want to purchase later.Excellent buy. Would recommend if you have to place a lot (83) of handles on your cabinets and want to make sure you don't screw it up, get this jig!
I was hesitant to purchase this case because of the mixed reviews - by ,
5/ 5stars
I put off buying this case because there were some questions in the reviews about the quality control, some people had nothing bad to say, some said the case didn't perform as advertised. The case is fine, it holds all of the loose components in place. The thing is, the places where parts are securely held in the lid are tight and the first time I put the extension ruler in I had to use more pressure than I expected I was going to need, but since that first time it's been easy to secure it and remove it and it is held firmly when stored. True Position actually included a slip of paper inside the case that explains that this is normal and also explains that the jig itself is held in place by the lid of the case when closed and is otherwise floating, which is the same as with any tool case, i.e. a drill. It's a good product and I'm satisfied with my purchase.
Expensive but works well. - by ,
4/ 5stars
The price is hard to justify for a DIYer.But it delivered consistent holes for my cabinets and drawers. A bit of math is needed to center and align everything. I shaved a pencil down to fit in the drill hole to mark the locations first and it provided me the opportunity to mark and re-measure.The provided drill bit worked adequately.Comes with a hard plastic case.

Not tight enough to properly hold the jig and accessories - by ,
2/ 5stars
Not tight enough to properly hold the jig and accessories. Love true positions jigs but this isn’t on par with the quality of there hardware jigs. I bought one with intentions to buy 4 more for the others jigs my installers use, but won’t because of the loose fit. Maybe I just got a bad one or something but when you have a $1000 worth of jigs from the same manufacture you assume the case should be on same level as product going in it..

I bought these because of the split ring cinch around the bit, vs a set screw into the bit. Others here have panned this product as not being flexible enough to grip the bit. I had no problem with that. These collars cinch tightly and hold their position. Awesome product! And I received them a day earlier than forecast- can't beat that!

With this jig, I was able to easily and precisely drill for handles for all my cabinets. Setting up the jig and drilling the holes is really quick. As someone with little experience, I was able to install handles on 10 drawers in about an hour and have them all perfectly centered. It’s easy for one person to set up and drill with no help. The construction quality is very good and it’s easy to square up with your drawers and doors. The case it comes in is nice though it’s a tight fit for some of the parts. Also, be sure to tighten down the thumb screws all the way or else it has a tendency to slide a little.

Works well in most cases - by ,
3/ 5stars
This works well in most cases and does significantly speed up the process of putting on a lot of knobs and pulls. I found that there were certain width drawers that the extension piece could not be used because the drawer was too big for no extension but too small for the extension piece to work. The main reason for 3 stars is I feel that for a tool this expensive it should include a case. It came in a cardboard box which I thought was insulting after paying this much for a tool.

This thing is built like a surgical instrument. - by ,
5/ 5stars
I had about 30 handles to install on my new kitchen & pantry cabinets. Ten were 7 inches on cabinet doors (all the same) and the rest were 13 inch pull handles on 30 and 36 inch drawers. The lower drawer faces are inset about 3/8 in from the frames (Shaker style) so that made 4 variations of drawer set-ups.I’m not an installer, just doing my own install in my own house. If I goof up a door or drawer front it would take a month to get a replacement and the cost would be most of what this tool cost. The tool worked better than I expected. I read the reviews so, I made sure the thumb screws were very snug and checked them frequently while using it. What would have taken me all day ended up taking about 70 minutes start to finish. Everything turned out perfect. This thing is built like a surgical instrument. It does exactly what the manufacturer says it will. Personally I consider the price to be a bargain.

High quality fit and finish. - by ,
5/ 5stars
This is a high quality jig with excellent fit and finish and accuracy. I’ve always either used a couple of combination squares or a shop made jig for knobs and handles but this thing saves so much time and is dead nuts accurate. Should have bought it a long time ago.
Great Jig! - by ,
3/ 5stars
This is a great tool, no doubt. But at this price point, I had to alter it to make my dimensions work by flipping the “y” axis stop and grinding the knob down. For $189, that is a 2 star demotion. It should have included the $59 “y” axis extension. $250 for this combo seems really high. All in all, I was able to mount 42 knobs and 22 pulls accurately after putting in the time to get the stop fixed. Would recommend with these caveats
Won’t hold anything it’s suppose to. - by ,

I had the same experience as the first review. It doesn’t hold anything. The bits fall out and the extension won’t go into the slot for it. Must be bad quality control because the other two reviews have praise.

I've installed cabinet hardware every once-in-awhile and got by with the plastic templates, measure, mark, drill and install. I recently got a job in a multi-million dollar home with more that 160 drawer/cabinet pulls. I decided to get this jig template and am very glad I did!You set it up once, go from door to door/drawer to drawer(of same size and positioning) set jig on door/drawer, drill, install and move on.I also purchased the TP-ERA Extended Ruler Attachment; TP-2312 Long Hardware Extensions; and the carrying case. I highly recommend you get these accessories as well. As you can see in pics I had some wide drawers and the accessories were a must!If you are thinking about a similar knock-off, DON'T! Get this and the accessories, you will not regret it.
Makes installing cabinet hardware a trivial matter - by ,
5/ 5stars
I don't normally write product reviews. In fact, I never write product reviews. However, this is one excellent product. It truly makes the daunting task of installing cabinet knobs a trivial matter. Very well constructed and simple to use.It is very expensive. I won't go so far to say it's worth the money, but it is an excellent tool. I would have been much happier at a hundred dollar price point. If I were a professional, it would be money very well spent, but a bit much for personal use.

Molded case doesn't actually hold" anything in place. Loose." - by ,

Poorly molded. Does not hold anything that came with my jig. The bits dont 'snap' into the case, they just lay in the slit and fall out as soon as you try to shut the lid. Very dissapointed in the case.
Very good tool - by ,
5/ 5stars
The product works as specified. I have used it to do cabinet pulls and handles. I wish they had a hard plastic case for this as I travel from job site to job site and I think the cardboard case will get beat up eventually. It helps to do consistent placement of cabinet handles and pulls. Recommend doing all of your cabinet doors first and then doing all of your draws so that you get a consistent location for the cabinet door hardware and then the cabinet draw hardware. Tool is on the pricey side but is durable if you protect it in the case when not in use. The markings on the tool are very accurate as I have double checked them with a tape measure before drilling any holes.
Saves all kinds of time! - by ,
5/ 5stars
I use this almost weekly as a professional trim carpenter. It is easy to use, extremely accurate, and well made. This tool will save you hours per cabinet/kitchen job.If you are on the fence about spending the money, just buy it! You will love it!The only suggestion I have is is to make the knotch that lines up the centerpoint larger/longer so it is easier to see.
High quality blow molded case with room for the true position jig and all available accessories - by ,
4/ 5stars
Great case for a high precision tool. I purchased this to keep my jig from getting damaged in the back of my truck with all of my tools. I love that it holds 3 of the drill bits for the jig. It also holds the extension ruler available for this jig. My only criticism is that the case doesn't make it readily apparent where all the pieces go, and the main jig doesn't seem tightly held in place like the drill bit and extension ruler do.
Mega time saver - by ,
5/ 5stars
Super high quality and precise jig. Thick and durable all metal parts. I highly recommend getting the case for this and the extension ruler for larger drawers if you install professionally. This tool saves a ton of time over marking out each hole individually
Very sturdy ruler - by ,
5/ 5stars
There's no way to properly ascertain the quality from the picture or description. This is a very high quality piece. Very thick and sturdy. The ruler starts at 0 on one side and 5 inches on the other. It also has standard and metric markings like the jig. The end stop locks securely in place and adds a ton of functionality to the true position hardware jig.

Things you should know. - by ,
4/ 5stars
This thing definitely speeds thing up, just used it to install about 100 pulls of different sizes on a bunch of doors and drawers, which is a typical size project for us.However, you need to be careful. The 5mm drill bit that comes with it works fine., The bit's flutes will clog up when drilling hardwoods like maple so be sure to run the bit out to clear the flutes before you drill through and you will not have any blowouts. It will scratch the cabinet if you don't put tape all over it, which makes it look kind of ridiculous. Some thin rubber padding on the surfaces that touch the cabinets would really make this thing a lot safer to use.The center hole is nice, definitely made it easy to use by marking center lines for the pulls on drawers, which is the fastest way to a lot of the same height but different width drawers. Though if the lines were extended along the sides/edges to where they touch the face of the drawer or door I wouldn't have to peep through the center hole when lining it up.Also be sure to check the thumbscrews often, a couple of times one of them loosened up while I was drilling, which was as little scary but not the disaster it could have been, just reset it and was good to goit is a little crazy that, for that price, it comes in a cardboard box, which I am gonna get rid of and make/find a better one since you can't put it back in the box without changing the setting.Anyway, besides all that I do really like this thing and recommend it for those who regularly install a lot of cabinet hardware.

Tool worked great! completed cabinet pull installation quickly and cleanly. A few minutes to measure twice for setup and then get to work. Tool is easy to set up and use. Don't recommend the FestTool drill that Amazon recommends. The drill that came with set works fine, but the FestTool drill bit broke after a few holes. Think it was an issue with the bit, but drilling into white oak & hard maple does take a toll. Recommend having a spare regardless. Once you get started its simple to keep going, but having a sharp drill bit makes the work easier and safer.

I have used and made my own templates that I use a punch tool on. As hard as I try the left is off from the right just a hair. Most customers notice a hair. This jig is identical left and right and you drill instead of punch marking. Really saves time and have great results. When I do pulls I found I should cover center hole with tape as I accidentally drilled wrong hole. The only thing, once you put on extension bars you can't use the stops.

This item, while expensive, is the only way to install cabinet hardware. In our last house we had custom cabinetry put in and initially didn't have hardware installed. I tried initially to install hardware with a home made jig, two handles later I bought this hoping it would produce better results. Once we decided on it I bought this and installed all the hardware with out issue. We are on our second house and have a big kitchen we are repainting for now and again putting new hardware on. This really is worth every penny when your doing the work yourself. I highly recommend this tool.

Perfectly installed handles were a benefit for the high price paid. It was worth, since I had European handles that had longer distance between screws, and most competitors would not provide this width on the template.

I just left a one-star review for a Kreg jig, so I thought I should focus on the positive of this jig which I bought when the Kreg failed. I don't expect a $25 jig to work like a $180 jig, but the TP Tools jig is a work of art. Is it pricey? Yes. But the bottom line is that it's a complete rock and after familiarizing myself with it, I was able to install an entire kitchen's worth of hardware...about 70 pieces...in about 2 hours. My door handles were centered inside the frame with about 1/8' in either side. Any off measurement would be readily apparent. This jig really delivered and let me complete my job with complete confidence. Once set, the jig can be flipped over so that all doors can be drilled with the same template. There was no play in any of the moving parts and the slightest amount of error I could see in the mounting was due to milling variation in the doors, not the jig. Can't praise this tool enough. The one change I could see that would make this absolutely perfect would be to build one arm 12' long so that base drawers could take advantage of the stop. As it is, the jig needs to be manually centered for drawers.
I like this tool - by ,
4/ 5stars
I like this tool, or jig, and use it now constantly. But I do wish it could do a few things at this time it cannot. But the accuracy is spot on, and the ease of use is good. I end up setting the stop collar on the 5mm drill bit when drilling holes for door handles or pulls. I finish off that hole with a tapered bit, as not to blow out the back side of what I am drilling. Take a moment more, but if you drill with the 5 mm and then go back and punch out the holes with the tapered bit, its quick enough.

Nothing like drilling holes in someone's $100,000 kitchen cabinets. I've done more than a few and still, 'Please, god, please, god, please, god...'. It never goes away. So obviously a jig. I've used, owned, and made quite a few over the years. By far, this has been the best... repeat, by far and I've given my other jigs away. Professional installer's tool. Made to last years. Simple, accurate, quick, easily re-positioned for left or right, door or drawer. Even better, has measuring index so accurate, I've caught errors once or twice with just a quick visual. Negatives? The price... and it doesn't come with a protective box (but, hey, you're a pro-carpenter so make one). Positives? The value of speed, accuracy, efficiency, and quality. Buy once, cry once, drive on.

My life has been improved once again. I have purchased yet another great tool. After thorough research, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase this high-quality cabinet hardware jig made by @truepositiontools model number TP-1934 Let me start by saying how happy I am. This is a fantastic tool. Within minutes of using it regular hustle of installing cabinet door hardware on random size doors disappeared. Installation process became easy and fast. There were no more need to make random jigs (imagine time-saving) or need for flimsy brick and mortar store offerings. The whole process feels like a breeze - measure, divide, set up the jig, drill install it's that easy. It's hard to explain you should try this yourself. I highly recommend this. Please, buy it you will not regret it. It will pay for itself in no time◾◾◾⬇️Here's what I think ⬇️◾◾◾PROS:◾High quality tool made from solid anodized aluminum◾Easy to adjust - measure, divide, set up◾Made in good old USA 🇺🇸◾When setting up properly installation precision can be felt at the first tryCONS:◾Price: $100 would have been more than enough for this tool. At $200 I would prefer at least Tanos systainer◾5mm drill bit has too much blow out even when light pressure is applied (see pics included)◾It would be nice to have some sort of spacers included when drilling in inset cabinet drawer fronts (see images included)◾◾◾Overall: I am satisfied even after I had to MCGYVER some 5/16 shim with help of 2P10 and the fact that my 3/16 Milwaukee drill bit performed much better with less blowout than 5mm bit that came with the kit (see images)◾◾◾It's officially #alderapproved

This thing is amazing. If you need to drill more than a few doors then it is worth every penny. I bought it only for one project, my kitchen, knowing that my precision drilling is a little lacking. Drilling into your cabinets incorrectly can cause serious cosmetic problems as well, so I figured it was relatively cheap insurance. I drilled every single hole perfectly, about 100. I was even going to sell it on ebay when I was done but no way, I'll have this forever.

Excellent jig. I have bought and made just about every jig made. As a high end finish carpenter, this is well worth it. Bought and returned a few including Sommerfeld. This unit is on part with Woodpeckers precision tools. Just installed 46 pulls and knobs in my latest kitchen installation in under 1 hour. Every one was perfect. So fast, easy and precise... After almost 30 years as a finish carpenter, I found a jig that actually works... Light weight, easy to adjust, and perfect..
A must buy for large kitchens. - by ,
5/ 5stars
Absolutely a life safer...well large time saver in any case. I order this after my wife had ordered a $6 plastic template that didn't fit our handles. It seems our handles were a bit oddball with a center spacing of 4 and about a 1/3' from center to center. We have a lot of cabinets and with this product I was able to do our top doors in 15 minutes. Our bottom drawers took a while longer as finding the center was a bit more difficult, but they all turned out great! The handles themselves are not always straight as they are a wrought iron type that aren't perfect. That's more of the handle issue, but this product is very sturdy and tough.

Love this jig. If you are in the cabinet business this is a must have. Do yourself a favor and get the extension bars as well. Some of these designer handles these days are long and very thin with no wiggle room for error. I've had to drill some handles so close the the edge of the door it was scary but the jig made easy precise work of it. I wish it had a plastic case all though I like the function of the cardboard case with extra pockets to store extra tools. I use it to carry things like screw cutters for screws that are too long, taps for messed up handle holes, extra drill bits, extra odd screws, etc.I can't say enough about this jig.

This drill guide is the best you will find anywhere. I install a lot of kitchen cabinets and this tool is a time saver. Very accurate! Whoever thought of this put a lot of thought into it. It is a precision instrument, not something you want to toss around or drop. It is expensive, but worth every penny if you use it often. NO OTHER JIG ON THE MARKET CAN COMPARE. It is for professional installers.

UPDATE 2/16/18: 4 STARS NOW - by ,
4/ 5stars
The idea of clamping the collar on the drill with a clamping screw instead of a set screw clamping directly on the bit is a FAR superior way to do it. Potentially better grip, no wobble etc.etc. However, this set has a way to go. The clamping screws are very fine thread metric in aluminum which isn't a very good idea. also, the slot doesn't go far enough across the collar so 'as-is', they can't really clamp the bit. I found that squeezing the collar on the bit with Vice-grips, THEN, tightening the screw was the only way, I could get the collar to grip the bit. Putting some molly grease on the screw helped too. I'm going to cut the groove deeper in each collar so they can flex in easier Just the way they come, they're pretty useless, but they have the potential of being excellent drill stops..Update 2/16/18: I've cut the groove deep enough now on 3 to allow them to flex easier & that definitely cures the problem. Wish the screws were coarser thread though, just lube the threads & use discretion when tightening.
okay but pricey - by ,

This adjustable jig works pretty well and the bit it comes with is not bad. I just thought that for the price there would be some kind of bearing or replaceable bushing that would of been included because while drilling the bit kinda squeaks and feels like its going to wear out and get sloppy fast. I did 3 kitchens with it and so far its not showing any signs of wear. I also add a drop or two of oil to the bit and guide during use. The adjustability is endless and precise. Much better than making jigs out of wood and tossing them. Theres only so square you can hold your drill when making jigs yourself. I never made a perfect one without a drill press.

If you have a cabinet hardware project, this purchase is a no-brainer. We researched many different types of jigs and templates and this one tool solved all our complex install situations. We used this to do multiple 7' pulls, double pulls, horizontal and vertical and numerous knob configurations...all with the highest precision and reliability. The included bit was perfect and using the jig, we made perfectly straight holes every time. It even allowed us to do a 12' towel bar! This is THE right tool for the job...quality, precision, reliability 5-stars across the board.
Best tool I have purchased in years! - by ,
5/ 5stars
This is probably the best tool I have purchased in years. When I first saw the price tag vs. the basic products you can buy, I was a little shocked... however, let me tell you - it’s worth every penny and more.We just purchased a new home that had no pre-drilled holes (our choice)I had to drill holes for kitchen, butlers pantry and 4 bathrooms - 130 cabinets and drawers.Kitchen were all pulls (2 holes) and bathrooms were single knobs. The tool saved me at least a full day of measuring and re-measuring.Template is easy to use, easy to setup for any length (we did some long pulls 256mm in kitchen)Biggest bonus... once you have done the left door, flip it over and it’s alreasy setup for the right door.. amazing design.Highly recommend this tool.Tip 1 - Read the instructions fully, I jumped the gun and my first measure setting was wrong as I did not read which side of the base (top or bottom) was the one to set the measurement on.Tip 2 - when drilling 2 hole pulls, put a piece of painters tape over the center (knob) hole do you don’t accidentally drill that as your second hole (whoops)

I have done woodworking and carpentry for 40 years and I've collected hundreds of 'do dad's'. These stop collars are the best thing since ketchup! I've been using the standard stop collars and I've always been irritated that they are never straight on the shaft due to the set screw. These collars with the split set screw tighten the collars around the entire drill bit shaft so it is straight. I would NEVER recommend the old type with the set screw that locks directly on the shaft. Thank you for making something that makes sense.

I've been a kitcken remodeling contractor for 30 years and tried all sorts of jigs. Hand made, plastic ones, recomended ones ect. None of which were worth diddly squat. One last try was my recent purchase of True Position TP-1934. This is a remarkable tool. Extremely well made. Machined to exacting tolerance. Easy to adjust and once you have locked down the hardware your good to go. Just flip the jig for left or right hand doors. Draw fronts ect. Buy the extentions if your installing extra long hardware. This is a must for any installer. Packaging is excellent for storage until the next one.A bit pricey but worth every penny.

Made a Hard Job Easier and Perfect - by ,

I had already struggled with changing the hardware in my kitchen, and the plastic jigs were useless to me (they move, slip and are never the right size). Only when I was tasked to replace the hardware on a lovely '80's kitchen that had previously centered handles did I have to find something that would really do the job. I just wasn't going to suffer adjusting and readjusting until they were perfect. I was sure there was something that really solved the problem, and I couldn't be the only person looking for one. There are pro's doing this and I was sure they wouldn't put up with the junk offered in big box stores (hey, I love them too). Finally I found this jig - and wow - it is expensive. I called it a birthday present ( and maybe Christmas too) and bought it.It comes in a cheesy cardboard box. At least the box protects the jig, and I was reminded to store it somewhere high and dry. The jig is lovely and well made. When I made my handle adjustments and measurements it was not challenging to finish the handle placements. Be aware that the screws can loosen if not snug, so give them an extra twist for good measure. All your holes are going to be straight as the jig guides the drill bit. It was very satisfying to stand back and admire the fine job the jig made possible. Considering the original price of the cabinets, and the cost of the handles, I was able to make it easier to swallow the price. This jig is worth the extra stretch to buy it.

I bought this instead of calling a handy man or carpenter to install the hardware in our new home. I am a rookie DIYer and I installed 60 knobs and 37 pulls some that had double pulls. I was able to do the whole project in a couple of hours. Unlike other templates this has the hole for the drill bit so you feel really confident that the bit is going into the right spot without deviation. My tip is that once you align the hole(s) you're going use to put some tape over the holes you're not going to use. This will keep you from accidentally using the wrong hole. It's easy to get into a rhythm and not think about what you're doing.

If you are looking for the best way to install cabinet hardware, this tool is for the rookie and the pro, price is high however you get what you pay for. This universal tool helps to take the risk out of drilling incorrect holes. I was skeptical like you to spend $189.00 to install my hardware, but I spent thousands on my kitchen and didn't want to skimp something im going to have to look at every day, and A crooked/ misplaced handle was not something I could stand. I set up and marked every cabinet door with a pencil then went back and drilled the holes, the jig is reverseable so you just have to set it once for both left and right hand doors. I rate this as a must have.

This is a must for professional cabinet installers. It's the jig you've been looking for. Your clients will appreciate and trust it, you will be able to relax and wrap up a job without any costly mistakes, and you won't be tied to the stock spacings of lower end jigs. Set a 5-11/16' spaced pull dead center on a 9-3/8' drawer front no problem. Loses one star for shipping a $200 jig in a freaking cardboard case.

Looking at the picture on Amazon and the True Position Tools webpage - I see a 3 piece set.I could not figure out from the picture what the little aluminum L-Block with the 2 seeming tapped holes was used for.Well - no little block in the kit I got - nor any description of it in the instructions. You will need a tape measure to set the position of the drill bushings relative to the main jig's fence - but I guess you could do a bit of math and account for the offset and then use the main jig's scales as a reference. What you get is a TP-SDG16 (UPC 702706419765) and a TP-SDG32 (UPC 702706419772)Maybe I'll try contacting the manufacturer about the mysterious block.

I bought this jig a year and a half ago and it has paid for itself more times than I could count. I did buy the kit with the line boring jig and those attachments are a must have for any cabinet maker and custom wood worker. This jig is engineered to perfection for putting handles on cabinet doors and drawer faces. I've used other jigs in the past and even made my own with fiber glass. But this jig just blows all the competitions away. I can't imagine doing my work without it. The inventor truly did his homework and made sure that his product is very well made I might add. I really really would incourage all professionals and DIYers to buy it. Y'all won't regret it.

This jig is the best jig out there. Despite being hesitant about the price I went ahead and bought this anyway. On average I use this jig to do 30 sets of hardware everyday. This jig it cuts the time of install of hardware in half and with no errors.

As a handyman I have done several cabinet hardware jobs in the past with 3 homemade jigs with good success. The True Position jig is phenomenal! I only have to set it up once and away I go! Repeatable results and more efficient. I just installed 50 cabinet handles in 2 hours. The time it would have taken me with my homemade jigs would have been close to 3 or 3 1/2 hours! The holes are straight so there's no need to 'fine tune' any of the holes! I highly recommend this jig!! The only drawback is that it does not come in a case, only a cardboard box.

It's not cheap, but I was drilling the drawer fronts for our new kitchen. There was no way I was going to be the guy who drills the holes in the wrong spot. ('But honey, being asymmetrical is in style!') It's very well made and will surely last a lifetime. Lend it to your neighbor when they put in a new kitchen, and make friends for life.

Awesome jig - well worth the money due to its flexibility and longevity. Don't waste your time with those flimsy plastic templates sold at the big stores.I did approximately 60 cabinet doors and 40 drawer pulls with 5' and 7' handles in about 7 hours with this, cleaning as I went. It produced fabulous results.A few tips: Every few cabinets, double check the tightness on all your settings. Use a quick clamp for high cabinet doors when you might to be on a ladder to reach. When doing false panels, such of those in front of sinks, double check your clearance behind the frame to the sink before drilling.

I am a finish carpenter, have been doing carpentry work for over twenty years and this is a tool I should have invested in years ago. By far the best cabinet door jig I've used to date. Was easy to set up, kept my drill bit straight and prevent flair out on back side of hole when using drill bit stop. I was able to cut my handle installation in half. Well built tool and durable, seems like it will last for years. My only gripe about this tool is the carrying case, it's card board would love for it to be some material more durable. I'm figuring if I keep by itself away from the other tools it will be fine. Thanks for a great tool Made in America.

This hardware jig works as advertised. It's fairly expensive but if you are mounting hardware with mounting holes over 5 or 6 inches its a great tool to own. You can set it up in a couple of minutes then you can zip through a room of cabinets very quickly. Its a very solid, well built tool.

As a pro for 20 years cabinet jigs are a must. Wether you make one your self or spend your life savings on this one. My last rockler jig got stolen this was my replacement. This jig is accurate however, I have drilled 3 holes in the wrong place since I got it. There are many knob that can catch thinking you have the jig in the right place or it won't slide good on the cabinet giving you the impression it's in the right place. You have to verify its right rather than just using the positive stops by feel.

I am a kitchen & bath remodeler and have been installing cabinetry for approx. 20 years now. I have been using a jig made by EZ Jig for all those years, which works very well for a lot less money. The problem is that it does not do handles that are wider than about 6', and there is no quick adjustment. This is where this jig shines. Most of my jobs involve installing knobs or handles which are 6' or less. But because of a current job which required installing a variety of very long handles, I finally decided to pay the price for this jig. It worked VERY well and I am glad I bought it.Pros:AccurateWell-machinedLight weightEasy to adjust with no toolsCons:Over-priced in my opinion. I certainly do not mind paying higher prices for higher quality, and this is higher quality, but not THAT high. I was once a machinist and I can appreciate the quality of the machining on the parts for this jig, but I think it's over-priced. Having said this, it will pay for itself in my line of work.Cheap cardboard case. At this price, one would expect it to come in a decent molded case of some sort. Every other tool at this price does. I suppose if one is careful enough, the cardboard case will suffice. Time will tell.

Nasty little quirk - by ,
3/ 5stars
The jig to me is worth the money. It's expensive but does save on set up time and having to build quick individual jigs. BUT.... It has nasty little problem. The stop for drilling doors has a beveled shoulder on it that can catch the drawer/door edge before the blade of the stop does... This causes about a 1/2---9/16 error in hole position. The point of this jig is to be able to set it and go... But I know find myself really double checking were it is because I don't trust it...certainly not something I would have a helper do anymore. This now takes me off more important install tasks.... So well made but not sure I won't go back to homemade jigs that don't require helper supervision.

I also got the shelf pin hole extension arms. Well worth the money. Paid for it self in employee labor time saved on two jobs. Truly worth the cost! I'm a common DIY homeowner who had a $2,500 vanity installed by a carpenter who had to leave before he could install the handles (handles were special order and didn't arrive on time). I found MUCH cheaper plastic tools and read where people used cardboard, etc. Then I found this. I had to talk my wife into it but she finally agreed. I didn't want to use cardboard or chance our expensive vanity to a piece of plastic. Further, it would cost just as much to hire a carpenter to come out and install 15 handles.Jig arrived and after spending 20 minutes reading the literature and lining it up on a practice cabinet door and adjusting the components, I was ready. Adjusted the jig to where I wanted to drill the holes, lined it up and using my drill went for it. Jig didn't move at all and hole was drilled perfectly.1) I went ahead and purchased the drill bit Amazon recommended...2) Our handles were six inches on center - this worked perfectly!3) Job was extremely easy and very quick to drill 30+ holes4) I removed drawers and doors to make drilling easierAfter I was done with the vanity, I as worried that I wouldn't have another use for the tool for a long time, if ever. Well, that proved wrong yesterday as I had to install a toilet paper hold. The directions called for two holes, 160mm apart. I was able to use this jig for that job and it worked perfectly. Other uses? Anytime you need to transfer the layout of two or more holes from something you want to mount on wall - which is something I do a lot of!Bottom line - money WELL spent with this...

I've only had this jig for a couple of weeks but it has saved me a lot of time! I'm a cabinet installer and highly recommend this jig. Aside from that, if you're installing cabinets for a living this is a must have.

Completely agree with other review that I am so happy I spent the money to buy this. The thought of creating custom jigs to drill cabinet hardware wholes was daunting. After doing some research and finding this product I was initially hesitant because of the cost. Once I got past that and purchased it I have been very happy with it. This jig allowed me to really fly through the install of hardware on all of the cabinets in my kitchen. That then allowed me to use it for the draws and doors in my bathrooms as well. This product give me the confidence needed to complete my projects and I don't fear any future projects that require measured pre-drilled holes.

Excellent, well manufactured product with clear, easy to follow instructions. I consistently drilled straight, accurate measured parallel holes for long pulls quickly. Made installing crystal knobs in the exact right place a breeze. Take the time to set the hole guides where they should be for any size pull, lock the placement with machined precision and it’s an excellent tool.Yes, it’s more $ than the plastic guides but if you want first-time, no mistakes high end results quickly this durable tool is the unit. And, its machined in the US. BTW, I paid full price for it.Perhaps not required for shorter cabinet pulls where being off plumb is not going to create an issue, but this is a superb product for accuracy and speed of install. I had to install some long pulls with narrow bases ( Alno A419-6-CHBRZ) on 42” painted cabinets. If the install is was off plumb on side by side by side doors or the pulls did not exactly match height it will be noticeable. With the A419s there is essentially no room for error. The base, where it touches the cabinet, is VERY narrow. Those how to videos that say use a bigger hole size to allow wiggle and adjustment would cause a hole that will be seen, especially as the handle shifts in daily use.Back to the unit, it even comes with a quality 5mm drill that fits the machined guides perfectly. The 5mm will be fine for most applications. But if you want finer precision, as I did for A419s, I used the tip of a 5mm bad point bit to lightly mark exact hole center. Removed the guide and used a 5/32 brad point for the actual screw hole. My old Ryobi 18V has a fairly accurate bubble level to guide level and by looking down on the drill I could keep the hole darn near exactly 90 degrees. With the holes marked exactly where there should be on all the doors and drawers, and tightly holding narrow bases with no slop, its quality.Summary: great tool – machined and marked well. Produces accurate results with any size pulls over and over quickly.

Works like a charm! Not being a skilled contractor I purchased this to make sure my holes were drilled based on the jig rather than rely totally on the plastic template. The plastic template worked well for most of my handles that were smaller but what I liked most about this jig is the ability to screw the handle into the jig itself so you can line up the alignment right on the door. The plastic templates are great if you want the standard positions. If you want a more custom look but still want to DIY then this tool is worth the investment. I am installing cabinet hardware throughout the home and this tool has certainly reduce the time and provided a higher level of confidence during install.

I work construction in multi million dollar houses that are very large and have a lot of cabinets, this tool is a HUGE time saver in my world!! I used to measure mark and drill all my holes individually and I would sometimes take a few hours to mark and drill cabinet hardware in a kitchen, now it takes about 20 minutes or less. This tool is without a doubt the best tool for the job and in my opinion well worth the money. It's design is well thought out and construction is very sturdy I love that it not only has inch marks but also has millimeter. So let's just get this out of the way; this thing is very expensive compared to other options. But good gracious does it work!I had 50+ pulls that were both 128mm and 160mm, in addition a 9' appliance pull, and then some knobs. It's really hard to overstate how easy this jig made the whole process. Set your depth to 1/2 drawer height (assuming you want it centered), set your width to 1/2 handle width (64mm/80mm respectively for my handles) then align the jig with the centerline that you've already marked on some blue tape on the front of your drawer. Then drill.Amazingly fast and accurate.I finished in under 3 hours for an entirely new kitchen. I did not have a single mis-drill.I might try to resell it to get some money back, but let me tell you the cost of mis-drilling one door/drawer would have been about the same price as this jig. Well worth it.

I purchased about $23,000 worth of Dura-Supreme cabinets. I had my designer/contractor install the cabinets, but they wanted charge extra to install the hardware (2 guys for ~6 hours). That would have cost over a $1,000 in labor....yes, maybe my contractor is high, but you don't want a couple of hacks working on cabinets that cost that much.I bought this tool and installed the hardware myself. This tool saved a TON of time. Once you get it set up for your cabinet door knobs, you just drill and go the the next cabinet door and drill, repeat, repeat, etc. Same with the drawer fronts, although you do have to adjust the tool of you have different drawer front heights. Nonetheless, this tool saves a ton of time.I was able to successfully install all knobs and drawer pulls without any errors. That is huge because if you screw up with the placement of the holes, you will be buying a new cabinet door or drawer front. Spending $175 on this tool is a no brainer if you are an accomplished DIY'r or professional.

Definitely a bit pricey, I professionally install cabinets so this is a worth while investment (I would not recommend for the weekend warrior). My only complaint with this tool is that you have to continually tighten / make sure the hole spacers are where they should be and tightened down. I guess every tool has its pros / cons. Overall an awesome tool.
Great jig for the professional installer. - by ,
4/ 5stars
If you install hardware on a regular basis this is the jig you want. It will pay for itself in one or two jobs. The only issue I had was learning that the set screws have to be very tight or they will loosen up and the guides will start to move. The set screws need to be slightly more than finger tight. Or put some Teflon tape on them so the screws do not loosen up for a finger tight snugness. I am going to get the jig for drilling shelf pin holes that goes with this system because I like the quality of this jig so much.

Hands down the best cabinet hardware jig you can buy for installing cabinet hardware!I am a professional carpenter and this is the only tool I use to install hardware on all my cabinet sets. This tool is amazingly accurate and can be used on all types of cabinets, recessed or flat.It can cost you more than the price of this tool if you mess up one of your cabinet doors or drawers. This will help take the chance for errors drastically down. Small, light weight, we'll built aluminum, tough tool! This is expensive because you will never have to buy another one.The only thing that will eventually wear out is the steel guides, but they sell them so you don't have to buy the whole tool again. I have personally used this tool to put hardware on over 75 cabinet sets and I am nowhere near replacing the guides yet. I'm thinking about 300 to 400 sets and I will have to replace them. It can be difficult to hold while drilling. Also it's extremely overpriced for a couple of metal rulers fused together with a couple of guides attached. Could probably get by just fine by making your own jig out of plywood, but I wanted a tool that would make the process easier, that I could use again later if needed.

We remodeled our kitchen ourselves and the last part was installing the hardware. Of course, we wanted the new cabinets pulls that are so big and none of the guides we could find would fit. I didn't feel like making my own jig, so I got this one. It's pricey, but worked like a charm. I am impressed!

I purchased this to install cabinet pulls in my new house. I was a little hesitant since it cost so much, but wow, this thing is amazing. Its perfect for installing cabinet hardware larger than 3'. I was able to install 6' pulls throughout my house.Plus it has drill guides directly on the jig so its literally just set it and start drilling. Drill bit included too!If you have any doubt about if this is worth i just think about why to buy it:- Larger than 3' pulls- Want drill bit guides to stabilize drill holes- easily repeatable results on all cabinets

I purchased this along with other tools and accessories for my husband's contractor assembly and installation business. I asked him forfeedback about this drill guide. Outstanding, PROFESSIONAL tool. Saved $750 putting all the handles and drawer pulls on in our new house. Pros often charge $1 per hole... do the math. Paid for the device with savings in the kitchen alone. VERY easy to use and extremely versatile. Not anything like the little flimsy cheap plastic guides. This is quality aluminum with hardened steel guides for the drill bit. Makes FAST work of installing a whole series of knobs and pulls. Easily adjustable for almost any configuration. HIGHLY recommended.

5/ 5stars
one of the best tools a true craftsman should have in their tool box. I recently did a job with 38 sets of holes, that's 76 separate holes.. Before this trusted tool you would have to measure for each hole, then drill the 76 holes hoping you were dead nuts on. Chances are you may be a fraction off using this old method ... of measuring for each hole. With my new 'True Position Hardware Jig' no problem... just set up the drill guides, measure the positing for each set of holes, set up your ' drill guides, and you will be ' dead nuts on'. No more guess work or hoping you measured all 76 holes correctly. With this jig no guess work, just measure for positioning centered or what ever the drawer calls for and you will be ' dead nuts on' each time. This jig has helped to cut my hardware installation time by more then half, and with less guess work and hoping you got it right... It's worth the money and in the end you can do more hardware installations which means a better job and more of them as a result, Production is up, revenue is up, and my time spent on the job for hardware installation is cut by more then half. Every true craftsman should have the ' True Position Hardware Jig' ....Thank you Joe V, Omaha, NE

This tool is worth its weight in gold if you're installing cabinet hardware. Loved it! I'm a little sad all of my hardware is installed, I want to use it again. The key is the setup, obviously, and making sure you made your measurements and placements correct. Once you get it setup (which is pretty easy) things fly along. There's little room for error as long as you're careful. I installed hardware in a kitchen, two bathrooms, and a laundry room in under 2 hours. It's expensive, but not bad considering the cost of replacing a mis-drilled drawer or cabinet, or the amount of time you'll save.

This is a fantastic Made in America tool. It is well built and I expect it will last a long time. I was also pleasantly surprised that it is packaged in a sturdy re-usable cardboard container to prevent damage in storage. My one complaint would be that for the price of the tool, I would expect the directions to be much better. They were a bit confusing and hard to follow, but a little common sense will prevail.

Very easy to use. Ensured that each set of holes were in the same location for each door. My wife is very picky about details and this jig was able to meet her expectations.Would have given 5 stars but it's difficult to keep the thumb screws tight in guide placement. Having some nylon locker on the threads or lock washer would be helpful.Almost drilled a set of holes in wrong place but caught it as I had both marked holes with fine tip sharpie and double checked alignment of jig with existing holes. This only happened once as I would check thumb screws after drilling every pair of doors.Being able to flip jig for left / right or upper/ lower is a gem. Also the storage box will ensure the jigs longevity and prevent it from being banged around with other tools. Box makes it easy to store.Forget about the fixed position plastic jigs. If your doing multiple door / drawer layouts with different spaced hardware this is what you want.FYI - I was using 96mm spaced hardware. But jig is adjustable for a wider or smaller sizes.
Must have tool for long handles - by ,
5/ 5stars
I had the smaller jig before this (TP-1934), but ran into a couple of jobs that needed 480MM handles. I could have bought the extension bars separate but I like having one of these in the shop and one in the field, so I bought this from Richelieu. The newer handles I've been seeing more of have VERY small profiles on the sides, so you have to be dead-on. There isn't the wobble room for straightening out the hole, so I have found this jig to be the perfect fix. I've used it a few time for line boring but mostly longer handles. If you haven't used one of these tools before, stop thinking about it and buy it! You will thank me later :) This tool paid for itself on it's 2nd job. I dont own many tools that I can say that about!
Worth Every Penny - by ,
5/ 5stars
Worth every penny. That is the only way I can describe this. I am a complete DIY'er and after these cabinets, I really do not have an immediate need for this. I am keeping it though. This really is not all that expensive considering you are drilling holes into cabinets that are worth thousands of dollars. For those who work in the industry mounting cabinet hardware, surely this tool is a time-saver.I have only done the doors so far as I am waiting for the drawers pulls to arrive. With this tool, I was able to mount the hardware on over 30 doors in just about an hour and they all look perfectly aligned. The hardest part was figuring out the initial setting of where I wanted the knobs located on the doors. Then it was just put on, drill, screw, repeat.Of course I wish it was less expensive, but for something that seems so simple, it is truly worth every penny.

I used it for the first time today 2 small issues i had with it still bit that came with it snapped on me about 20 holes deep. Also when i lined it up exactly on points it didn't match up about 32 off, but other than that saved me easily half the time. Would be helpful to have some type of plug to throw in when drilling handles to keep it exact.

FABULOUS! If you install cabinets and hardware for a living you need to get this guide and throw everything else away. It will pay for itself in one job.Only weak point is the set screws can come loose due to the fact that the metal that the point presses against is hard and so it doesn't get as tight a grip as I would like. To avoid problems I regularly check the tightness of them. If they were to make the threaded point of a softer metal so it locks tighter that might solve the problem,

I bought this jig after using handmade jigs that I would make as necessary. They were made in the field, and sometimes were slightly off by 1mm or so. On a large handle, or row of cabinets, that can be very noticeable. Now with this jig, drilling for handles is DEAD ON ACCURATE EVERY SINGLE TIME. This jig is solid and extremely well built. The box doubles as a cardboard carrying case so it sits on the shelf in my truck rather than bouncing around in the toolbox. (The box will eventually need to be replaced--it's not a hard case, unfortunately). The options are endless with this jig. It is a bit pricey, but you will not regret it.I have also purchased the line boring extensions (you can buy the whole thing as the TP-1935 kit). I look forward to using those for drilling holes for those custom jobs that hard to program on the CNC.UPDATE:After purchasing the add-on line boring extensions, I still can say this is a VERY well built, well put together jig. They all fit in one case which is nice. The line boring extensions are very well built with nice bushings. All in all it is an EXCELLENT purchase. The precision of the markings on the jig is dead on accurate and very easy to line up and set with the set screws.A few comments:When using the line boring extensions: Start by registering one end of the extensions overlapping with an existing hole, if possible. Put a drill bit in there to hold it. I found that there is some flex over the length of the entire jig, so measure the distance perfectly and drill one hole on the other end and put in a drill bit or 5mm peg to hold it. Then drill the bulk of the holes. Otherwise, you may be off by 2-3mm which is more than enough to throw things off.The drill stop collar that is included with the drill bits is junk. Throw it away and get a decent set of drill stops for controlling the depth of the drill. I purchased these and i am happy with them: General Tools & Instruments S838 6 Piece 3/16-Inch to 1/2-Inch Drill Stop AssortmentI wasn't very impressed with the included drill bits either. I was drilling melamine and they had some tear out. I found putting a strip of blue painters tape under the jig helps. And apply pressure to the jig where you are drilling. That should help with tear out. Same on the back side, if you are drilling holes all the way through the material.

Seems expensive - but cheaper than getting a handy person to come out and install door handles on kitchen and bathroom cabinets on the level. And way cheaper than screwing it up free hand, and having to live with your partner's dirty looks every time s/he uses the off kilter handle.Simple to use - but take your time: remember your cabinet doors/drawers may not be exactly the same - ya' still gotta measure at least once.Well constructed and sturdy - but still wouldn't recommend dropping it from a ladder (It is a little ungainly to juggle along with a drill, screwdriver and a handful of hardware: but I doubt you will do this job unsupervised!)
Finally a profession tool for large pulls, speed and accuracy! - by ,
5/ 5stars
I'm a professional renovation contractor. My biggest fear is drilling hole is expensive cabinets that I just installed and putting them in the wrong place. Also when I have twenty or so handles to install the more repetition I can do, the faster I can get done. This jig, ( actually a tool as jig is to unkind a description) allows for accuracy, repetition, and no errors ( if you're paying attention!). The best thing is that you can set up to center a pull or knob on a set of drawers and even if the depth of the drawer front changes you will still be centered, just reset for the depth. I just installed a bunch of cabs that had a 6x 20 drawer up top and on 6 different cabs and 2-10x10 drawers under the top drawer. I did all the upper 6' drawers, then reset set for the 10's. All of them came out perfectly centered and all were the same dimension down on each set of cabs. The trick is to make sure all the cabs draw front are lined up and index from the same side of al the drawers. I also used a laser to take the mid pointy of the top drawer and transfer it to the lower drawers. So if the drawer fronts were slightly misaligned you couldn't tell visually. Also this was the only tool ( jig) that works with wide spread handles. I was working with 10' wide pulls and I think it can go to 12' or larger.Stop reading and buy it!

Simply a must have tool for the finish carpenter. Do the math, set the jig and bore away. I do all the doors first, then the pull outs (trash, recycling, etc) and then the drawers. Only way to screw up is with a mathematical error. I honestly don't remember how I installed hdw without this tool. And as an example of how great it is, I can install an average 30-40 box kitchen in under 30 mins.
Hardware Install - by ,

My cabinet installers were taking a lot of time to install hardware, getting it a little off sometimes, and not making or using the shop made jigs they used to make for every job. I decided to invest in an Italian Sports Car jig. This is worth every penny. Paid for itself on the first job, 78 pcs of 8 inch spread cabinet pulls. In fact, my installer said the jig was more precise than the hardware itself! They actually had to tweak a couple of pulls that were off!

Works as advertised but slightly off center - by ,
4/ 5stars
I agree with many of the other reviewers that this tool is expensive. However, I bit the bullet and used this tool to drill holes to install 50+ cabinet pulls. I didn’t want to make the expensive mistake of ruining thousands of dollars worth of cabinet doors. Two features I would improve about this tool:1) The horizontal alignment of the jig seems to be off by 1-2mm. When I drill holes in a cabinet door with the handle installed on the left hand side (measurement markings on the tool facing me) then no problem. The holes are perfectly centered where I want them to be. When I drill holes on the adjacent cabinet door with the handle installed on the right hand side (measurement markings on the tool facing the door), then the holes are slightly off center by 1-2mm. This may not matter to a casual observer, but I know that the holes are off center by a little bit.2) I used a plastic clamp and a piece of folded cardboard underneath the “T” to support the tool against the cabinet door. Placing a piece of metal on each side of the “T” may be a good idea to improve this tool. This would make the “T” the same width as the adjustable jigs. I placed my clamp right on top of the “T” with the cardboard underneath.Other useful hints:1) Make sure to use a drill with a bubble level so that your hole is straight in a vertical orientation.2) Make sure to pay attention that your drill bit is placed at 90 degrees to the face of the cabinet door, otherwise your holes will not be straight in a horizontal orientation.3) Use a clamp and a piece of folded cardboard underneath the “T” to support the tool against the cabinet door.4) This jig is good, but it still will not save you from making careless mistakes. It is only a guide for the drill bit.Would I buy this tool again? Sure. It is obvious that the tool manufacturer reads these reviews, because I received a version of the tool that was slightly different than what was described in earlier reviews. My tool came with adjustable screw knobs instead of the Allen wrench screws that everyone else complained about.

Just finished using the TP1934 to do a kitchen/ full pantry, master & guest baths & it worked great. The TP-1934 is not inexpensive. It is elegantly designed, beautifully made, and a joy to use. If you install hardware frequently do yourself a favor and buy one. It will pay for itself in no time with faster better work and fewer mistakes. If you are a DIYer and only have a few handles to install, well it's hard to justify the cost, but on the other hand it is cheaper than messing up an expensive cabinet door.I bought it to install 9 pulls (though there will be more in the future). There were three different setups. It took just a few moments to set up the jig and drill the holes, correctly, every time. I've installed a fair number of pulls without this jig and I'm always nervous. The TP-1934 made the job easy, even fun. Eliminating the stress and mistakes from what can be a nerve wracking job was well worth the money. I don't regret a penny of the price.

Ordered this jig based on reviews I read online at various sites. Had about 65 knobs & handles to install & lowest bid I got to install them was $300. So this jig paid for itself & then some. It's easy to set up & use & is dead on once it is set and as long as you hold it tight against the workpiece. Plus, it's made in the USA!

Great tool extremely efficient, I bought a set of cabinets and had to install the hardware. This tool worked great everything came out even and precise. I thought for sure I was gonna mess it up, but this tool is idiot proof-I love it and my wife is happy too. Came in one day after ordering.

I tried using the cheap plastic templates to install knobs and handles for a kitchen, but the hardware was apparently not a 'standard' size. This jig allowed me to customize the locations exactly and saved hours of tedious measuring.I only have two criticisms of the product:- The two pieces were misaligned by about 1/32 of an inch. It wasn't enough to affect the final results, but for the price, they should have been perfect.- Why are the bushings 5mm? That might be okay for drilling shelf holes in a foreign country, but this particular model is advertised primarily for installing cabinet knobs and handles. I ended up using an Empire automatic center punch sheathed in a brass hobby tube to mark the holes. I would like to have seen an assortment of bushings or a custom center punch.Maybe I'm missing something because the cheap plastic templates were also 5mm, but I've never seen a 5mm knob screw.
Rolls Royce of Hardware Jigs - by ,

I used the TP1934 for drilling out our custom kitchen cabinets handles. This was a dreaded task but wow was it easy with this! I looked at a few other jigs including the align rite, some cheaper ones from retail wood stores, but none matched the quality and ease of use of this product. I suggest getting the TP1935 if you have hardware with a spacing larger than 12' to install or plan to do any adjustable shelving holes. We were able to add the long hardware / line boring extensions on separately but would have been cheaper to buy together. I highly suggest this product to anyone doing this professionally or a DIY homeowner like myself who likes things done right without re-do's!
Works great but cost is a little high - by ,

After doing some online and local home depot searching, decided on the basic tool for doing a kitchen and bath cabinets for pulls. No knobs done, pulls only that had two 8 32 screws. Tool works geat and easy to use.ProWould buy again (I like high quality tools that make hard tasks simple and fast)Would recommend if you want all the knobs/pulls to align well from door to drawerGreat quality product and shipping package well builtConCost is high so unless you have a big home project or do cabinets for a living hard to justify the costThe lock down screws have a hard plastic knurled finish. It does not seem to have good grip but okay...The tools knurled plastic knobs are easy to chip if the tool is handled roughly, but the tool kit comes with a few extra ones if you break one.The drill bit provided works okay but could be higher quality as it gums up easy in soft cabinet doorsOVERALLI Enjoy the tool and wife likes it as wellWould buy again if I had to do a 'quality' large kitchen and wanted the pulls and knobs placed correctly. (Or if you do this work for a living)Would not buy for a low quality cabinet single job due to the high cost of this tool

I'm a 'suit' with home repair / remodeling as a major hobby. For a total kitchen renovation, I decided to do most things myself - including installing 28 door / drawer pulls. This device is straightforward, simple to use, flawlessly designed and executed. For accuracy, time savings, confidence building and excellent results, the tp-1934 was well worth the price.

This jig works extremely well! Accurate scales made it simple to set drill guides to the proper spacing. Large contact point with door/drawer made it easy to hold the jig in place while drilling. Using this jig cuts the time to install cabinet/drawer hardware in half.

High Quility, easy to use, and saves time. I installed two kitchens with hardware, kitchens had the same amount of hardware, the first took 2 hours and 15 min. the next one took 1 hour and 30 min. The more I used the jig it took less time per handle.
Expensive, but worth it for some - by ,

I purchased the TP 1935, but for most people the TP 1934 will do. I build cabinets and everyone wants a different style and size pull or handle. This guide is precision made and can handle all of them. a simple twist of a knob and set the handle width. Twist the other knob and set the set off distance from the edge, top or bottom. Drill your holes and move on. I've dropped it on concrete and didn't faze it. It's a bit expensive but since it can easily handle whatever you throw at it I think it's worth it.The only negative is the price. If they would knock about $50 off I think they would be a best seller!
